Heel Screening for Bone Density

Heel Screening for Bone Density

This screening tool uses high frequency sound waves to evaluate bone status in the heel. The longer the transit time, and slower the speed, the lower density of bone. The bi-directional measurement ensures a consistent reading, and can indicate if a full DXA scan needs to be requested from your physician.

The Achilles ultrasonometer also provides a clinical measure called Stiffness Index, which indicates the risk of osteoporotic fracture in postmenopausal women comparable to a DXA scan of the hip and spine.

I absolutely love coming to OsteoStrong. When I first started I had a very weak wrist. Now I can push myself up from the floor with the grandchildren with no pain. I love having strong wrists! I’m in my late 50’s and I do believe that posture and agility are part of the Fountain of Youth so I plan on coming to
OsteoStrong for a long time.

I’ve been coming to OsteoStrong for over five months. I was getting close to osteopenia which concerned me, so I decided to give OsteoStrong a try. My ankle is bone on bone—I don’t have any cartilage anymore, and I have arthritis. The only fix is an ankle replacement and I’m not ready to do that yet. Since coming to OsteoStrong, I no longer have to get shots in my ankles and knees and I’ve cut down on the amount of pain medication that I take. I was able to walk five miles in Boston one day while
on vacation and I didn’t experience any pain.

Debra

Olathe, Kansas
After losing bone density for 8 years, after 12 months with OsteoStrong I gained 5.3% in my spine and 4.7% in both hips. I’m stronger, my balance has improved, and am confident I will continue making progress this year.
